SUMMARY:Yard Sale
DESCRIPTION:This year the Council elected to hold a 2nd Yard Sale in September\, as the June event was so very successful\, and we still had items left over in storage\, and were collecting more items at Content Sales. \nThe event actually started on Thursday 11th\, when Knights arrived to set up the Tables and place them around the perimeter of the Church Parking Lot. \nAlso on the 11th Knights were loading contents at Brother Peter Vanderlaak’s barn on Victoria Road in Carrying Place\, onto trailers. \nOn Friday morning (12th) the trailers arrived early\, and were unloaded\, and contents were placed onto tables\, sorted by type – electronic\, china and cutlery\, toys\, tools\, book\, Music LP’s and CD’s\, etc. \nThe people start arriving by 9am or 10am\, as contents may be still arriving from storage. \nThe Council had a BBQ set up and were providing Hot Dogs\, Sausages\, and Pop/Water. \nBy the end of the day\, there is not much left\, and remaining items are covered with tarps to protect them from the elements. \nA few stragglers will come out on Sunday morning and pick over the leftovers. \nA final cleanup is undertaken on Monday morning (15th). We took all the remaining Clothes\, Shoes\, Vinyl Records\, Music CD’s over the \nMission Thrift Store\, just across the way. There was 1 trailer load for the Dump and one load for the burn pile. \nOur September Yard Sale was another tremendous success. We raised just under $7200.00. \nThis will enable the Council to donate funds to our Charitable causes – TMHF\, Food Bank\, and so on. \nOver the course of the four day\, we had 73 Knights on hand helping out in various ways. This added up to 516 hours of donated time. \nA huge shoutout to Brother Germain Loignon for organizing the event\, and to Brother Peter Vanderlaak for graciously storing all the collected items in his barn\, and to all who helped in the loading and unloading\, and set up. \nA huge thanks to all the Brother Knights and others (Ladies\, Spouses\, etc) who helped in manning the Tables\, manning the BBQ\, and other activities\, in another very successful Yard Sale. \nOver 25 Knights participated\, and we earned 516 Fraternal Hours for our efforts\, and in excess of $6000.00 to go to Charitable purposes. \n  \n
