SUMMARY:March For Life in Ottawa
DESCRIPTION:Three (3) Parishioners from St Peter’s Parish and Seven (7) Brother Knights from Council 2438\, were joined by a Brother Knight from Frankford\, along with a sizable group of Parishioners from the Belleville Parishes take a bus to downtown Ottawa to participate in the Annual March For Life. \nWe left St Peter’s in Trenton at 8:30am and arrived in Ottawa at Parliament Hill at Noon. \nThere was a large crowd as usual and including an abundance of many young people. \nWe began a return trip at 3:30pm and arrived back at St Peter’s in Trenton at 8pm. \nThanks to all who attended. \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:Annual Baby Bottle Drive
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Baby Bottle Drive campaign will be started this year on Mother’s Day – May 10th. \nThe drive continues until Father’s Day on June 21st. \nParishioners are encouraged to take an empty Baby Bottle\, and fill it with coins and/or bills. Parishioners may also include a cheque\, or an e-transfer to the Quinte West Pregnancy and Family Care Centre. \nThe Baby Bottles are collected at the end of the drive\, and delivered to the Quinte West Pregnancy and Family Care Centre. \nMonies raised are tabulated by the QWPFC and the Council can apply to the Supreme Council under the ASAP Program (Aid and Support After Pregnancy). For every $500.00 collected\, Supreme will contribute an amount of $100.00 up to a maximum of $400.00. \nCouncil 2438 has run this Drive for several years. \nThanks to the QWFC for providing a Baby Crib and the empty baby bottles\, and to the Brother Knights who volunteer at all Masses during the seven (7) week drive.

SUMMARY:Ontario State Convention in Ottawa
DESCRIPTION:The Knights of Columbus Ontario State Convention was held at the Westin Hotel in downtown Ottawa\, right beside the Rideau Centre. \nGrand Knight Patrick Goodmurphy was registered and did attend this annual event. \nThere was a Mass celebrated at Notre Dame Cathedral on Saturday at 5pm. There was a 4th Degree Honour Guard. \nOn Saturday evening the State Banquet Dinner was held with all dignitaries and preceeded by a 4th Honour Guard led in by a Piper. \nIt was a great weekend with much participation. \nThe convention wrapped up on Sunday at 11am. \nThe State Board was re-elected with David Gelinas remaining as State Deputy.

DESCRIPTION:Our Archdiocese celebrated the 200th Anniversary with a Mass at St Mary Cathedral in Kingston on Sat 18th April.\nIn attendance was the Papal Nuncio\, three Cardinals and many Bishops\, along with parishioners from all around the Archdiocese.\nAlso present was the K of C Ontario State Deputy David Gelinas\, who travelled from his home near Windsor to celebrate with us. \nAn Honour Guard was provided by Fourth Degree Knights from Assemblies across the Archdiocese\, including your Grand Knight and District Deputy. Third Degree Knights were also in attendance. \nThe Mass was recorded and is on You Tube. SUMMARY:Chrism Mass
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday March 31st a group of Parishioners including 10 Brother Knights boarded a bus at St Peter’s Church Yard and ventured down the East 401 to Kingston to St Mary’s Cathedral\, for the Annual Chrism Mass. \nBrothers in attendance were – Father Timothy Harrison\, Patrick Goodmurphy (Grand Knight)\, Eric Camolese\, Don Babineau\, Gilles Larrivee\, Ken Town\, David Chown\, Dr Koshy\, Tom Painter\, and Michael Collins. \nMany thanks to Brother Eric Camolese for planning and organizing this trip\, and to the Parish for sponsoring the cost of the bus. \nAlso attending were about 24 parishioners from St Peter’s and another 6 from St Michael’s in Belleville. \nThe Mass was very moving and all the priests from the Archdiocese were there\, and they participated in the Mass\, and at the end were provided with the necessary quantity of the Holy Oils for the coming year.

SUMMARY:Food For Families
DESCRIPTION:St Peter’s Council 2438 held a Food Drive in conjunction with the King of Kings Movie\, which was being held on Saturday March 28th at 1pm at the Centre Theatre in downtown Trenton. \nParishioners who were not attending the movie could bring their food donations to St Peter’s Church at Sat 5pm Mass or at the 9am Mass and 11am Mass on Sunday March 29th. \nAll of the food donations will be collected and loaded into the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank’s Van\, which will be parked outside the Church. \nThe donated food will be delivered to the Food Bank on Monday March 30th\, where it will be weighed. \nThe Food Bank is designating a Shelf for the Knights of Columbus. Users of the Food Bank will see same when they come to pick up their needed food. \nCouncil 2438 has been a long term donor to the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank. \nBrother Gary Tobin reported that we collected 795 pounds of food\, and cash/cheque donations totalling $360.00

SUMMARY:King of Kings Movie at Centre Theatre in Trenton
DESCRIPTION:St Peter’s Council 2438 was proud to host a family day Movie Event at the Centre Theatre in downtown Trenton. \nThe movie was the animated King of Kings. \nParishioners had been signing up for this event\, and we expected to be sold out at the limit of 110 seats. \nMovie goers were asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items for our Annual Food Drive. \nThere was be a table inside the entrance of the theatre\, and food items were dropped off there\, and volunteers will took the items outside to a truck parked beside the theatre. \nPopcorn and refreshments are available at your own cost. \nFinal attendance was 68. We had 36 no-shows plus some cancellations and additions. \nAll of the people who came out were very pleased with the show and found some of the scenes very moving. \nFood collection figures are being reported in the Food Drive event. \n \n

SUMMARY:Shrove Tuesday
DESCRIPTION:Every year the Trenton Lions Club hosts a Pancake Breakfast for the students of St Mary School (situated right next door)\, at their Hall on College St. \nThe Lions Club provides all the food and drink (juice boxes) and their volunteers cook the Pancakes and Sausages. The Lions volunteers plate up the food\, and oversee activities. \nThe Knights of Council 2438 always come and support this event. The Knights assist in delivering the food to the tables\, pouring Maple Syrup\, cleaning tables\, etc. There are three (3) settings over the course of the morning\, to accommodate all the students. \nThis year there were eight (8) Brother Knights on hand. \nAlso on hand are volunteers from the Parent/Teacher Council. And the Teachers of the students. \nThe children always look forward to this event and are very thankful for the food and drink\, and express their thanks to the Lions/Knights of Columbus/Parents/Teachers. \nThe Knights financially support the event. \n

DESCRIPTION:On the morning of January 22nd\, five (5) Brother Knights came to the downstairs room of the Parish Centre\, to participate in the on-line exemplification of a candidate wanting to join our Council 2438. \nYour Grand Knight (Patrick Goodmurphy) oversaw the on-line exemplification\, in company of Brothers Germain Loignon (Membership Director) and Dave Overdulve (Past Grand Knight)\, Tony Poole\, and Anthony Kester (District Deputy). \nAt the conclusion of the Video we exemplified Michael Collins into our Council. \nMichael brings our current membership up to 183. \nOur congratulations to our new minted Brother Michael Collins.

SUMMARY:Meet & Skate with The Frankford Huskies
DESCRIPTION:On January 11th 15 Brother Knights were on hand at the Frankford Arena to enjoy fellowship\, and some brought their skates and took a turn or two around the ice surface. \nMembers of the public were also on hand to enjoy the free public skate. \nWe also held a 50/50 Raffle and raised $57.50. \nThe event was organized by Brother John McDonald who owns the Frankford Huskies Team\, and John arranged to have a few of the players to participate in the event. \nBrother John arranged with Reids Dairy to provide Chocolate Milk and they also donated Water Bottles. \nOur Mayor Jim Harrison stopped by and was very impressed with the turnout. \nA great day was had by all. \nA big shout out to the Brothers who came out for the event: \nPatrick Goodmurphy\, John R McDonald\, Germain Loignon\, Terry Whalen\, Gary Tobin\, Tony Poole\, David Overdulve\, Peter Vanderlaak\, Stephen Foster\, Frank Barry\, Calvin Tracey Terry Gallagher\, Adrien Lemieux\, Zibby Rolka\, Father Timothy Harrison \n

SUMMARY:Consecration to the Holy Family
DESCRIPTION:At the Saturday Dec 27th 5pm Mass\, and at both the 9am and 11am Masses on Sunday Dec 28th \, there was a Celebration to the Holy Family\, at St Peter’s Catholic Church. \nAnnouncement of the event was placed in the Church Bulletin in advance. \nPrior to the start of Mass\, Prayer Cards had been placed in the pews. \nParishioners participated in reciting the Prayer\, and Father Timothy Harrison provided a special Homily. \nThe event benefitted the students and parents of our three (3) Catholic Schools\, through the preparatory work at the Schools\, and encouragement to return to Mass as families. A Poster was made from the Consecration to the Family Prayer Card\, and was displayed at each of the Schools and at the Church. \nThe Council had seven (7) Brother Knights\, who aided and supported the event. \nThe event was planned and organized by our Family Director – Brother Gary Tobin. May hours were put into this special event. \nMass attendance was very good\, a successful event.

DESCRIPTION:Every year\, for the past 25 years\, our Brother Frank Barry has organized this event. \nIt involves the pre-ordering of Turkeys\, and Hams\, and Cookies. \nBrother Frank has a Team of Brother Knights\, who go out in pairs to visit the Widows in the surrounding community. \nThe Council covers the cost of the items. SUMMARY:Donation to Trenton Lions Club
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Donation Budget\, and in recognition of the generosity of the Trenton Lions Club in extending to our Council\, the use of their Hall every month\, for our Council meetings. \nA motion was brought forth to Council and approved for a donation. \nIn discussions with Council\, it was suggested that the donation be in support of the Trenton Lions Club project for the building of an Inclusive Playground in Centennial Park in Trenton. \nOn December 11th\, Brothers Patrick Goodmurphy and David Overdulve presented Lions member – Michael Seymour (Project Manager) with a cheque for $2000.00 \nA sincere letter of thanks followed from Michael Seymour.

SUMMARY:Donation to Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation
DESCRIPTION:The Executive Director of the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation was invited to speak to our Council at our monthly Council meeting on Tuesday Dec 10th. \nBrother Frank Barry (our Lecturer) had suggested inviting Linday Butcher-Dodds to our Council meeting to update us on activities at the Hospital. \nA year or two back we had Lindsay’s predecessor – Wendy Warner\, into make a presentation. \nAlso Brother John McDonald made it known that there was need for to (2) Portable Heart Monitors. At a cost of $3000.00 each. A Motion had been put forth and approved for a donation in that amount. \nLindsay made a fine presentation\, and was overwhelmed when we presented her with a cheque for $6000.00. \nWe received a glowing letter of thanks from Linday on December 18th. \n \nFrank Barry\, Patrick Goodmurphy\, Lindsay Butcher-Dodds\, John McDonald \n  \n

SUMMARY:Keep Christ in Christmas
DESCRIPTION:This year our Council was able to hold the Keep Christ In Christmas Poster Contest with the three (3) Schools – St Mary\, St Peter’s\, and St Paul’s. \nThere was great participation at all three Schools. \nHere is the report from our Faith Director – Brother David Overdulve. \nKeep Christ In Christmas Poster Contest 2025 \nWorthy Grand Knight our KCIC poster contest was a success this year. I rolled out the program early in November at St. Mary Catholic School\, and St. Paul Secondary School. Brother Mike Silva\, assisted\, by heading up the program at St. Peter Catholic School.. The program was voluntary on the part of the students. We had over 100 entries from each of the three schools. \nJudging was difficult as all of the entries were very well done. I would like to thank the staff and principals of all three schools for supporting this program . A special thanks to the leads Cynthia Kelly at St. Mary\, Ana Dacosta at St. Paul and Mike Silva at St. Peter. \nThe winners: St. Mary’s Grade K-2 Zayn; Gr.3-4 Lily-Anne; Gr.5-6 Claire \nSt. Paul’s; Grade 7-8 Jude \nSt. Peter’s Gr. K-2 Paige; Gr.3-4 Laya; Gr. 5-6 Gabby \nI have posted the winners and some of the runners up from grade 7 & 8. \nThe certificates were presented to winners at St Mary and St. Paul on December 3\,2025. The certificates will be presented to the St. Peter’s winners after their advent service on Monday December 15\,2025. \nOur Council made a donation to each school of $100.00 for helping with this program. \nBetween Patrick\, Mike and myself we have about 20 hours of volunteer time. \nFaith Director. SUMMARY:Christmas Gathering

DESCRIPTION:On the morning of Sunday November 16th\, thirteen  (13) Brother Knights came to St Peter’s Church after the 11am Mass\, to participate in the live exemplification of our (4) candidates wanting to join our Council 2438. \nThe Exemplification Team was made up of Brothers Germain Loignon\, Tom Painter\, Terry Whalen\, and David Overdulve\, and presided over by Father Paul Finn. \nThe candidates were – Cristiano Almeida\, David T Dall\, James Hughes\, and James Edward Robichaud. \nIn the pews were Brothers – Bill Wallace\, Roger Lafferty\, Gary Giles\, Zibby Rolka\, Dan Gimpel\, Terry Gallagher\, and Wade Nelson. \nThe addition of the four new Brothers brings our current membership up to 179. \nAfter the conclusion of the ceremony\, the new members were welcomed to the downstairs of the Parish Centre\, for coffee\, and to sign the Membership Roll. \nAlso these four new Knights were the first to be enrolled on-line. \nOur congratulations to our new minted Brothers. \n  \n  \nCristian\, David Dall\, James R\, James H.

SUMMARY:Recruitment Blitz - Nov 2025
DESCRIPTION:At the Sat Nov 8th 5pm Mass and at the 9am and 11am Masses on Nov 9th\, our District Deputy – Anthony Kester spearheaded a Recruitment Blitz. \nSir Knight Brother Anthony gave a speech from the pulpit at all Masses. \nHe talked about the history of the Knights from their inception in 1882\, and the history of our Council 2438 St Peter’s Trenton\, which was charted on April 8\,1923\, and which has provided immense support to the community of Trenton. Most specifically to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and to the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank. \nAt the end of each Mass\, we had Brother Knights at the back of the Church to answer questions from men of the Parish\, and hand out brochures\, and enrollment forms. \nThere were a number of interested persons\, and silent prayers were offered for the success of the recruitment blitz\, and the hope of new members to our Council.
